Som del af Rio+20-konferencenen afholdes der i dagene 16.-19. juni en meget spændende serie af Sustainable Development Dialogues, som prøver at nå ind til benet af begrebet bæredygtig udvikling.

Top 10 Recommendations

For hver af de 10 dialoger er der forud opstillet 10 anbefalinger, hvor dialogerne har til formål at indskrænke antallet til tre. Den ene anbefaling fastlægges ved online afstemning med inddragelse af de virtuelle deltagere (typisk mere end 1 mio. afgivne stemmer), den anden fastlægges af panelet ved dialogernes afslutning, den tredje afgøres ligeledes ved afstemning fra salen.

De 10 anbefalinger er:

◊ Take concrete steps to eliminate fossil fuel subsidies.
◊ Promote the use of sustainable energy and energy access as a public health policy.
◊ Incentivize the construction of energy efficient buildings and revamp existing ones.
◊ Establish ambitious targets for moving towards renewable energy.
◊ Encourage the use of bycicles.
◊ Require ‘ecolabels’ on products with clear information about the product’s energy efficiency.
◊ Enforce regulations requiring energy-saving features on all new automobiles.
◊ Educate people about energy efficiency.
◊ Give ambitious tax incentives for the acquisition of energy-efficient products.
◊ Create incentives to encourage work from home.

Final recommendations

◊ Take concrete steps to eliminate fossil fuel subsidies.
◊ Establish ambitious targets for moving towards renewable energy.
◊ Scale up investments and political will to ensure universal, equitable and affordable access to sustainable energy services to all by the next decade through clear strategies and actions.

De i alt ti dialoger er en enestående mulighed for at høre begavede mennesker fra hele verden reflektere over bæredygtig udvikling – hvad det indebærer, og hvordan den kan implementeres.
